We Love Alpacas!
Life on our Missouri alpaca farm is great!
We started raising alpacas because we really enjoy them! With
each passing season, we receive so much more than we give and we feel
that alpacas can win a place in your heart, too.
We lived in the suburbs until several years ago when we moved to
the country and began raising alpacas. We are a family owned and
operated farm just west of St. Louis, Missouri.
While vacationing in Kentucky we visited an alpaca farm and fell
in love with alpacas. After researching the lifestyle and the tax
advantages of raising alpacas we took the big step and became alpaca
farmers. Now that we have settled into our new lifestyle, we just can't imagine
living in the suburbs anymore without these delightful creatures.
It was an unexpected surprise for us after having alpacas as pets
for two years that caring for alpacas was at least as easy as caring for our
cats and dogs. Personally we feel the alpacas are much easier to
care for than our domestic cats and dogs.
The alpaca antics in the barn and field provide us with a lot of fun and entertainment. I can't tell you what an awesome sight it is to see your herd of alpacas pronking (when they jump into the air and their four feet touch) and running in the fields. A true lesson on being in the moment as taught to us by our four legged creatures.
The very best part of having an alpaca farm is the birth of your
alpaca crias (baby alpacas). This has been for us a very joyful
experience each time it has happened on our farm. Best of all
there is nothing cuter than a cria!
We have enjoyed every aspect of starting our Missouri alpaca farm
-
from building and fixing up our two barns,
to fencing, preparing and growing
pastures, and bringing in the hay. We also enjoy our farm visitors and their
positive response to the alpacas. Best of all it is the day to day caring for and
being with the alpacas that brings us a lot of
satisfaction in our lives.
We have 16 huacayas with champion bloodlines that thrive in their
clean living environment, with well-balanced pastures, proper
nutrition and quality veterinary care.
